Conventional and digital approaches in post-endodontic restorations
In endodontically treated teeth, the application of appropriate coronal restorations that restore functional and aesthetic integrity, prevent microbial ingress, and minimize the risk of fracture is essential for treatment success. The longevity of endodontically treated teeth in the oral cavity is influenced by multiple factors, including the amount of remaining tooth structure, the type of restorative material used, the restoration technique employed, and the interactions between the tooth, the restorative material, and the oral environment. Although various materials are available for the restoration of these teeth, composite resins and ceramics are among the most frequently preferred options in contemporary practice. Depending on the extent of coronal structure loss in posterior teeth, different therapeutic approaches can be employed, such as indirect composite resin restorations, indirect restorations (inlays, onlays, overlays), full crowns, and endocrowns.
