Management of surgical treatment with autogenous graft for papilla reconstruction in cases of peri-implant papilla loss: 3-month follow-up
The interdental papilla is an important structure of the gingiva, and its height may decrease or be completely lost due to various factors. This loss often results in the appearance of an open embrasure space, commonly referred to as a 'black triangle.' Black triangles are aesthetically undesirable and are often a cause of concern for patients. For clinicians, it is essential to have a good understanding of the available treatment options to address this condition. A 43-year-old female patient presented to our clinic with a complaint of the appearance of black triangles due to papilla loss in the area of the 13th implant. Upon evaluation, it was determined that there was a reduction in papilla height in the mesial and distal peri-implant areas, and no peri-implant mucositis or peri-implantitis was observed. After obtaining patient consent, on the scheduled procedure day, an autogenous soft tissue graft was harvested from the patient's palatal region and placed into the recipient site in the same session, followed by monitoring of the healing process.
